Flightmasters of Klamath Falls is a non-profit club which is affiliated with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). We are dedicated to the fun of remote control flying and are open to persons of all ages. Our flying field is located on the southwest corner of the Bill Scholtes Klamath Sportsmans Park, 5 miles west of Keno, Oregon on Highway 66.
Our area of the Sportsmans Park comprises 40 acres. We have three runways laid out North/South, East/West and NE/SW. The N/S runway is 350 feet long. The E/W runway is 750 feet and the NE/SW runway is 30 feet. The surfaces are groomed lawn which is mowed weekly. A concrete pad is available for helicopter launches jet powered aircraft run-up and takeoff. In addition, we have access, at the west edge of the property, to Topsy Reservoir for float planes.
Sport Flying – any scale or skill level including
Flight Instruction – we have instructors and training planes available to those eager to learn.
Flight Contests – held monthly from May – October. Participation will help you to qualify for national events as well as earning bragging rights amongst fellow members.
Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at the Kingsley Field Airport Administration Building. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. Meetings are open to everyone. We usually have a demonstration or exhibit at every meeting as well as a raffle for some flying gear. Sometimes we even have refreshments!!
Club dues are $35.00/year plus a $10.00 one time fee for new members. Membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) is also required.
We participate in the Klamath Airshow every year. We have both flying demonstrations and static displays at the shows.
We actively support and engage in fund raising activities for the support of the Klamath Sportsmans Park.
Our event is held in November (we like to get a head start on the holidays) at a local restaurant. Outgoing and incoming officers are recognized. The Flyer of the Year is awarded. There is a raffle conducted in which members win numerous prizes and we have a White Elephant gift exchange. The White Elephant exchange is loads of fun and leaves everyone laughing at the fortunes or misfortunes of trading gifts.
